Revue may be a lost art, but during the 1950s and 1960s it reached a Golden Age, with its glorious performers including Hermione Gingold, Dora Bryan, Joan Sims and Ian Carmichael. This unique disc brings together many of the outstanding numbers of such shows, from such writers as Vivian Ellis, Peter Myers, John Pritchett and Richard Addinsell, as well as two songs from American revue. Adrian Wright and William Rayner (piano) catch the sharp tone of these shows with such previously unrecorded songs as the glorious ‘Siren Song’ and ‘Case history’. From a Monty Norman revue of the period there are two hitherto ‘lost’ songs, ‘The only thing I missed’ and ‘The wisherman’s song’, and the immortal ‘Mr Henderson’ also appears. With: Adrian Wright, William Rayner
