This release brings together three aspects of Julian Slade's work. Firstly, THE MUSIC OF JULIAN SLADE, a rare early Oriole LP now transferred into new life by our sound wizard Alan Bunting. This includes songs from some of Slade's Shakespeare productions, some revue numbers (one of them sung by Slade himself) and a cut number from SALAD DAYS. There is a selection of songs from one of Slade's early London successes, THE DUENNA, based on the libretto of Richard Sheridan. Of special interest is the premiere release of a private recording made of one of Slade's very first Cambridge musicals, LADY MAY, with its obvious musical references towards his later scores. A true retro blast from one of Britain's best loved theatre composers!
